Background to trip
We planned for a great cycling adventure along the Danube
River in 2020. Not only were we kept
from going to Europe, as you know, we all had to quarantine at home. Thank you, Covid-19! While things are getting better in 2021,
cycling along the Danube, Rhine, or other European rivers was still just a dream. What is the next best adventure for 2
cyclists that have taken annual trips for 20 years? Keeping with 2020’s river theme we thought
about other river possibilities; ones closer to home and more likely to be
achievable in spite of pandemic restrictions. Since we had already cycled along many US
rivers including the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, and Columbia we had to find another
worthy river. So, what is left? For our 2021 trip we chose the mighty
Susquehanna River, cycling from its headwaters in Cooperstown to where it ends
at the Chesapeake Bay.
I wish you dry roads and tailwinds.
